Standardized test solution reduces costs for Danfoss

Problem

Danfoss’ MC088 controller is the brain of the control systems used in excavators, tractors and other off-highway vehicles. All controllers are tested in the production process to make sure they live up to Danfoss’ strict quality standards. But for too long, the MC088 had been tested using an outdated test-setup that was based on a complex prototype with very poor usability. Danfoss wanted a solution that came with immediate support and in which both software and hardware were standardised.

Solution

CIM created a test solution for Danfoss based on standard components from CIM’s collaborative partners 6TL Engineering, Microsoft, and National Instruments – including LabView and TestStand. As a result, Danfoss now has a solution that is easy and fast to use, and which reduces the test costs significantly, as running and maintenance costs are smaller in this standardized solution.

Result

Danfoss now has a superior test system with a much lower life cycle cost than their old solution. Furthermore, it can easily be replicated in other production locations where the company is represented, such as in North America and Asia.
